Thelma L. Lobaugh


Thelma L. Lobaugh, age 92, of Baraboo, returned home to the Lord on Thursday, November 8, 2018 and is reunited with her beloved husband, John and sons, Steve and Timmy. She was born on July 16, 1926 in Lindsborg, Kansas, daughter of Henry and Annette (Peterson) Sundberg. After graduating as salutatorian of her High School class she went to Fort Riley, became a dental assistant, and met the love of her life John Lobaugh. After countless horseback rides and Saturday night dancing they were married March 8, 1946. After John returned from duty in Korea they moved to Baraboo where they raised their five children. Thelma was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she remained involved most of her adult life. She was an avid golfer and bridge player where she established many of her lifelong friendships. Thelma always felt her most important role was to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Thelma was a 44 year breast cancer survivor and for many years she volunteered to counsel other women affected by this disease.She is survived by sons, Thomas (Irina) Lobaugh, Mark (Deborah) Lobaugh and daughter, Mary (Michael) Luther; seven grandchildren, Kara (Brad) Bjorklund, Melissa (Shane) Workman, Jennifer (Michael) Miller, Cassie (Andy Harris) Luther, Jessica (Andrew) Dye, Nicholas and Julia Lobaugh and five great-grandchildren, Brody, Logan and Drew Bjorklund, Grant Workman and Emma Louise Dye; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Jerry Layman and brother, Roland Sundberg; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John and sons, Stephen and Timothy.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph School Endowment Fund. Thelma will be dearly missed by her family and remembered for her beautiful smile and warm heart. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
