Johann Peidelstein


Johann Peidelstein, age 85, of Baraboo, passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, at St. Clare Meadows Care Center. Johann, son of Josef and Katharina (Dernai) Peidelstein, was born May 7, 1933 in Yugoslavia. He immigrated from Yugoslavia to Austria after WWII and worked on farms, until he came to the United States in 1955. Once in the U.S., Johann was employed by Wonder Bread, until his retirement. He spent many years living in Weeping Willow Ranch mobile home park, near Chicago. Johann had a love for music and owned a large collection of many types of music. He enjoyed ballroom dancing in his younger years. He liked to grow vegetables, and was a good neighbor. Johann appreciated the time and fellowship the volunteers of St. Joseph Catholic Church and pastoral care at St. Clare Hospital provided him. Survivors include his sister, Anna (Helmut) Knoglinger of Linz, Austria; his nephews, Josef (Linda) Peidelstein of Toronto, Ontario, Richard (Nancy) Peidelstein of Baraboo; niece, Anna (Cliff) Blackman of Matamoras, Pennsylvania, as well as other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. A graveside service will be held on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018 at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Father Jared Holzhuter officiating.The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Our House Assisted Living, St. Clare Meadows and St. Clare Hospital for the care shown to Johann during his time there. The family is also grateful to the many people in the Hodgkins, Illinois area, who provided care and friendship to him, prior to his moving to Baraboo. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
