Ryan Matthew Selje

Ryan Matthew Selje, age 38, went to his heavenly home on Oct. 2, 2018. He was born Feb. 8, 1980 to Kris (Vertein) Jackson and Donald Selje. He was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Freedom on Mar. 9, 1980. Ryan attended St. John's Lutheran School and graduated from BHS in 1998. He was employed by Action Electric the Monday following graduation where he completed his apprenticeship and became a journeyman electrician. He was employed by H & H Electric until the time of death. He was united in marriage to Amber Nachtigal on April 26, 2003; this union was blessed with three children. Ryan was an avid bowler, bowling many 300 games; two of which came the day of his father's death. Ryan took pride in attending his children's sporting activities, coaching his daughter, Lani's softball team. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing with his kids, and playing softball. Ryan was a member of the North Freedom Rod & Gun Club for many years, serving as President for multiple terms.Survivors include his mother, Kris Jackson; children, Lani, Lakyn, Ryker; the mother of his children, Amber Selje; siblings, Christopher (Erin) Selje, Rebecca (Scott) Kamphuis, Cydney Selje, Chelsey (Corey) Koch; grandmother, Faith Vertein as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.He was preceded in death by his father, Don; grandparents, George Vertein, Jr., Florence and Sidney Selje; uncle, Robbie Vertein; cousin, Tanner Zimmerman.A service of comfort will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Redlin Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom. Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 8, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. as well as from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Tuesday. The Redlin Funeral Home and Pastor David Karow are assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
