Geraldine Esther "Fritz" Verthein

Geraldine Esther "Fritz" Verthein of Baraboo passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the age of 80. Gerry, daughter of William and Rufena Egerer was born March 13, 1938 at St. Mary's Ringling Hospital in Baraboo. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church and School. Graduated from Baraboo High School in 1956. She also attended Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm, MN. On September 17, 1960 she was united in marriage to Jerome (Jerry) Verthein. Gerry was employed by Wisconsin Telephone Company for 7 years, was Secretary at J.A. Verthein Construction Company for over 50 years. She belonged to St. John's Division G, Circus City Home Makers, Ladies Bowling League, played racquet ball, tennis, skiing and entertained family and friends at their cottages.Gerry is survived by sisters, Barb (John) Earl, Joan (Bob) Kuball all of Baraboo; sister-in-law, Gloria Wharton of DeForest, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Verthein; parents, William and Rufena Egerer; in-laws, Arthur and Carrie Verthein, aunts, uncles and cousins.Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Kuske officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the church as well as from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Donations may be made to St. John's Media Fund in Gerry's name.The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice, Meadow Ridge, Dr. Sessler and Jim and Geri Brown for all their care.
