Marie Vogt


Marie Margaret Vogt, age 96 of Baraboo passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 10, 2018 with her family by her side.She was born the second of ten children to John and Bertha (Beer) Wankerl in Plain on March 31, 1922. She was united in marriage to Alvin Vogt on Aug. 20, 1941 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain, Wisconsin. Marie was known for her cooking and sewing and loved creating crafts with her embroidery skills. She will be remembered for being a loving mother who raised 7 children including 5 daughters and 2 sons. She loved cooking big meals for family get-togethers; additionally she enjoyed canning, and baking. Marie was a devout Catholic and was a committed to her church; she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.Survivors include her children, Barbara (John) Schroeder of Sarasota, FL, Dr. Gerald (Sharon) Vogt of Baraboo, Joanne (Gary) Andersen of Ellenton, FL, Colette (John) Bunde of Madison, Mary (Richard) Stauffacher of Verona, Karen Vogt of Baraboo, James Vogt of Hartford, CT; nine grandchildren, David, Stephen, Sara, Vanessa, Valerie, Heidi, Richard, Matthew, Luke; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Sunder, brothers; Joseph (Lucille), Louis, and Tony as well as other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; siblings, Edmund, Florence, Dorothy, John and Rose.A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with her nephew, Father Gary Wankerl officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
