Betty Lou Fox


Betty Lou Fox, age 90 of Madison died Thursday, March 29, 2018. Betty, daughter of Henry and Nina Patch was born Aug. 11, 1927. Betty came from a long line of educators; finding value in education Betty attended UW-Oshkosh and received an undergrad degree in teaching. Betty taught high school for a few years before marrying the love of her life, Thurman Fox on June 17, 1950. He preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 2017. Betty was an avid and talented seamstress and knitter. She learned these skills from her mother and grandmother who were educators of the skill. From an early age Betty enjoyed spending time at her family's cottage which she was eventually able to enjoy with her family. Betty and Thurman were lifelong members of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Betty enjoyed being a member of the Knit-Wits through the church, knitting for charity causes and enjoying the fellowships of other knitters.Survivors include her daughter, Beth (Jim) Fox-Warnecke; grandchildren, Audrey and Andy; great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Larson as well as other relatives and friends.Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thurman; and her son, James Thurman.Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens, 7302 Mineral Point Road in Madison. Donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church,4100 Nakoma Rd., Madison, WI 53711. The Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo is assisting the family.
