Richard (Dick) Klemm

Richard (Dick) Klemm, North Freedom A great man and loving father, courageous and strong, not only in life but also in the journey of leaving this world, is now at rest. Richard (Dick) Klemm, age 72 of North Freedom, Wisconsin left this world at peace, in his home on February 13, 2018 alongside his children, who held his hands as he went to be with his Heavenly Father. Born on May 4th, 1945 in Baraboo to Virgil and Virginia Klemm, Dick was the oldest of his siblings: Barbara (deceased), Tony, Charlotte, Virgil Jr, and Tim. Dick enjoyed growing up on a small farm on Happy Hill and graduated from Baraboo High School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1968 and was stationed aboard the USS Constellation, acquiring many skills. Afterward, he returned to Happy Hill and raised a loving family. He worked as a lineman at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant for 20 years and went on to an electrical maintenance position at Agracetus in Middleton, Wisconsin, retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Baraboo VFW and North Freedom American Legion. Dick was hard-working and generous, with a creative mind, and a knack for jokes and story-telling. He had a deep sense of humor, was artistic, wise, compassionate, grateful, and humble. His kids' and grandkids' happiness superseded his own, always. His family loved making many memories with him during fishing trips to Canada and much time with him simply spent together at his home "on the hill". Dick was preceded in death by his (infant) sister Barbara, as well as his parents (Virgil & Virginia). He is survived by his five children: Morgan (Deanna) Klemm of Rock Springs, Becky (Paul) Ivey of Eau Claire, Mindy (Matt) Roth of Mazomanie, Matt (Sheryll Faivre) Klemm of Rock Springs and Justin (Cassie) Klemm of Menomonie, eight grandchildren, four siblings, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor Nick Maglietto officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Redlin Funeral Home as well as from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Burial with military rites will be held at Rock Hill Cemetery following the church service. Donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran School in Baraboo or North Freedom American Legion. The family would like to thank SSM Health, Dr. Mullvain, Dr. Liengswangwong and their teams. And a very special thank you to Dick's brother, Virgil, Jr (Beaner), who lived with and helped Dick and his family during his last weeks.
