Mary A. Silvers of Baraboo

Mary A. Silvers (Melcic) passed away peacefully at Oak Park Place in Baraboo on Wednesday, Jan 31, 2018. She was married to Ralph Silvers on January 11, 1955; they were married 52 years. Mary worked at many places: A&P Food Stores, IGA, Pierce's, Farm & Fleet, Walgreen's and retired from Kmart. Mary was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a past member of Daughters of Isabella. Mary liked cooking, gardening, her weekly magazines (that she called blabs), sweeping and going out to eat. She especially enjoyed her weekly visit to get her hair done by Ronny or Jenny. Mary was blessed with caring long-time neighbors and friends on Elm Street, Tim and Sandy. Mary loved being with and doing things for her family, particularly celebrating their birthdays, special occasions, holidays and summer family reunions. Mary is survived by her children: Richard (Maureen) Schreiber, Edward Silvers, Ethel (Thomas) Turkowski, Karen (Michael) Pilarczyk, Scott (Heidi) Silvers and Jeffrey (Kim) Silvers. Grandchildren: Jason (Christina) Hollis, Joseph Hollis, Julie (late James) Ruther, Kevin Schreiber, Richard (Brandy) Silvers, Nathan Silvers, Tim (Julie) Turkowski, Mary (Adam) Dunn, Jennifer Silvers, Nathaniel (Lauren) Silvers, Rachel (Stephen Sperl) Silvers, Hayden Silvers, Michelle Robinson, Daniel Silvers. Great-grandchildren: Joshua, Jacob, Joseph, Colin, James, Noah Kroll, Mia, Addison, Emily, Sophie, Taylor Sperl, Shelby and Wyatt. Mary is also survived by her loving sister Lillian "Cookie" Blastick. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Ralph in 2006; brother James Melcic and sister Dorothy Molenda; daughter Barbara Hollis and grandsons Joshua Hollis and Patrick Silvers. A prayer service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Redlin Funeral Home with Father Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family thanks Dr. James Mathers for the many years of wonderful care. Also, the family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Oak Park Place. Special thanks to Berta and Mary, Jill and Charlene, Brittany, Susan, Kelly, Holly, Amber, Donny and Maryann, Cassie and Hailey, Alison and Nadia. And thanks to Marty and Jerry who always knew how to make her smile. You all made Mary's days happier. The entire staff and administration worked as one to help us provide the very best for Mary's changing needs with sensitivity. We would also like to thank Agrace Hospice, especially Mary & Deb, for their invaluable assistance in ensuring Mary's comfort and dignity in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Agrace Hospice, or St Joseph's Catholic Church.
