William "Bill" Martin Mistele


William "Bill" Martin Mistele, age 86 of Baraboo passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 at St. Clare Hospice House with family by his side. He was born April 20, 1931 to Duane and Gladys (Aland) Mistele in Baraboo. Bill attended Baraboo Schools and graduated in 1950. In Feb. 1951 he enlisted in the US Navy and served in the National Guard for 1 1/2 years before entering Navy Boot Camp and eventually the Seabees. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 11, 1955 after obtaining the rank of Seaman 3rd Class. On April 19, 1958 he was united in marriage to Marilyn "Mary" Irene Puttkamer. Bill was employed by Culligan and Turner Water Care, but will always be remembered for being the, 'Hey Culligan Man'. To say Bill served his church and his community is an understatement, he was actively involved in numerous clubs including the Elk's Club, St. Vincent de Paul, Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 2336 and the OWLS Club for many years. Bill was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports, playing euchre and doing crossword puzzles. Most of all Bill enjoyed spending time with this family and entertaining his grandchildren. His joke telling and famous one liners will be missed by his family and friends.He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Mary; children, Matthew (Pam) Mistele, Linda (Tom) Strachan, Andrew (Lori) Mistele, Sandra (Tim) Terbilcox, Darcy (Pete) Filus, Paula (Walter III) Hickey; grandchildren, Jonathan, Anne, Jesse, Michael, Emily, Walter IV, Mason, Halle, Addison and Drew; great-grandchildren, Carter and Decker as well as other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerome "Bud" (Mary) Mistele; sister, Geraldine (Jesse) Silividi as well as granddaughter, Tara.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held at Redlin Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. The Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be used towards Bill's favorite charities.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at St. Clare Hospital, St. Clare Meadows and St. Clare Hospice House for the dedicated care and attention shown to Bill and his family.
