Melvin Leroy Bratland, was born in Edgerton, WI on March 2, 1938 to the union of Melvin B. and Florence H. Bratland and passed away at the age of 79, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 peacefully surrounded by his loving family.Melvin is survived by his Ex-wife and best friend Mary Bratland; (6) Children, Arnold Bratland, Austin, Texas; Kandice Knospe, Springville, Iowa; Neal Schmidt (Kim), Eatonton, Georgia; William Schmidt, Portage, Wisconsin; LeRoy Bratland, Baraboo, Wisconsin; Eric Bratland (Glenda), Packwaukee, Wisconsin; (1) Brother, Henry Bratland (Rita), Edgerton, Wisconsin; 12 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents - Melvin B. Bratland, father, Florence H. Bratland, mother and (1) brother Willard Bratland.Melvin retired as a welder from Neco Hammond and Palmer Mfg. He also retired from dairy farming.His hobbies were, baseball, softball, bowling both league and recreational, fishing, and stock car racing. Melvin also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers football, Milwaukee Brewers baseball and NASCAR. Melvin was an avid horseman and participated in all types of timed events in Horse Shows.Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 10:00 a.m until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Redlin Funeral Home, Baraboo Wisconsin.
