Elaine Katherine Pierce


Elaine Katherine Pierce, age 87 of Baraboo, passed away on Thursday evening November 2, 2017 at St. Clare Meadows. Born March 2, 1930 to John & Mae (Tooley) Litscher on the Sauk Prairie at home by Pine Hollow where Badger Ordnance stood. The Litscher's moved near the marshes east of Baraboo by the Butterfield Bridge on County U when they were evicted from the Powder Plant land. She and her brother, Robert (Bob) were the last two on the home farm with their Father and here she was known a lot of the time as "Mouse" and by many of her friends all her life. Here in Baraboo she met and married James E. Pierce and were married for 53 years. She has two children Ralph D. and Kenneth J. In 1962 she and Jim decided to return to agriculture along with Jim's participation in Pierce's Super Market. They purchased the old apple orchard at 707 South Blvd and rebuilt it into a first-rate orchard. They moved in 1977 to Hatchery Road where with their son, Kenneth, they enlarged Pierce's Hereford Haven. Here they concentrated on raising Polled Hereford breeding stock to this day. She and her husband and son, Ralph with his wife Joan established Pierce's Supper Club restaurant from 1979 to 1995. Elaine loved bowling with the ladies' league at the Elks Club, snowmobiling, raising apples and cows, and loving her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Ralph (Joan) Pierce and Kenneth (Sandra) Pierce both of Baraboo; three grandsons, Nathan (Amy) Pierce of Deforest, James (Veronica) Pierce of Baraboo and Travis (Megan) Pierce of Baraboo. sisters-in-law Joan (Leroy) Litscher, Patricia Mueller of Baraboo, Patricia Pierce of Baraboo; brother-in-law, William (Phyllis) Pierce of Reedsburg and special friends, Ron and Bev Federman of Baraboo; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents John & Mae Litscher, her brothers LeRoy, Robert (Marge), & John (Joyce), and sisters Lorene (Royce) Harrison and Evelyn (Orlin) Trager. Services will be on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo with visitation at 9:30 a.m., service at 10:30 a.m.
