Carl Brahmstead


Carl Jeffery Brahmstead, age 87 of Baraboo died Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 at home. Carl, son of Arthur and Charlotte (Scott) Brahmstead was born April 21, 1930 in Wisconsin Rapids. Carl proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Alford; she preceded him in death on Feb. 27, 1988. Carl was employed by Milwaukee Transit System as a bus driver for over 30 years; he retired as Division Superintendent. On Nov. 24, 1990 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Steinhorst at First United Presbyterian Church in Baraboo. He was a member of Legionnaire Post 188 in East Troy. Many people will remember Carl for being Santa Claus in East Troy on the Christmas Trolly Train for many years. In his free time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and baseball.He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy of Baraboo; children, Connie Lesnik of Wind Lake, Debbie (Rev. Roy) Tellier of Viroqua, Brenda Hantz of East Troy and Judy (Gary) Springer of Fort Wayne, Indiana; step-children, Lester (Kathy Dembny) Steinhorst, Kathy Behnke, Mike (Debbie) Steinhorst, Merry Steinhorst, Pat (Nancy) Steinhorst, Fred (Bobbi) Steinhorst, and Lisa (Phil) Smith; 64 grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as one great-great granddaughter, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Raynold Korman; wife, Charlotte; sister, Janet Grabczyk; half sister, Delores Douhy; step-daughter, Sherrie Ziemke; sons-in-law, Keith Hantz and Paul Lesnik; and brother-in-law, Sigmund Grabczyk.Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Redlin Funeral Home, 401 Madison Ave. in Baraboo with Pastor Lisa Newberry officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home as well as from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Inurnment will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery in East Troy, WI on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
