James “Jim” Isenberg


James "Jim" Isenberg, age 83 of Baraboo passed away peacefully at home with family by his side Sunday, July 16, 2017. James, son of Oscar and Clara (Kruse) Isenberg was born Dec. 24, 1933 in Loganville. Jim was a graduate of Baraboo High School and furthered his studies by obtaining a degree in Business Administration from UW-Madison in 1956. On Aug. 20, 1955 he was united in marriage to Nona Isenberg; she preceded him in death on Sept. 30, 2000. On Oct. 3, 2003 he was united in marriage to Suzanne DeLine. He was employed in the accounting department of General Electric Company in Milwaukee until 1957 when he took over his father's hardware business; Jim owned and operated Isenberg's Hardware for over 60 years. Community members will fondly remember that if you couldn't find it at Isenberg's it didn't exist. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army in 1958 as a Private until his honorable discharge. Throughout his working career Jim held various positions in different organizations including director of the Baraboo Business Men's Association, served on the board of the Baraboo Parks Dept. and on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Retail Hardware Association for many years, serving as Vice President in 1979 and President in 1980 to name a few. In high school Jim enjoyed playing basketball among other sports. He was an avid sports fan but especially loved the Green Bay Packers. He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne; sons David (Jinny) Isenberg and Mike Isenberg; step-daughter, Stacie Bonham (Trent and Serenity); grandchildren, Nicole, Jacob (Katie) and Eli; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Sawyer; sisters, Jeanne Hendricks and Helen Heberlein as well as other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Nona. Jim was a hardworking 7-days a week businessman that would always go above and beyond for any customer and took a handshake on a sale. Many will remember his dedication and support of various charities including the Special Olympics, St. Jude's and the Badger Honor Flight. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Redlin Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the family to be used towards one of Jim's favorite charities. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Heun for the house calls he made to see Jim and to Dr. Krszjzaniek for the wonderful care shown to Jim over the years as well as Home Health United Hospice and St. Clare Meadows.
