Violet Yvonne Peterson


Violet Yvonne Peterson, age 89 of Baraboo, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in her home at Meadowview Assisted Living. She was born in Baraboo, Wisconsin on Aug. 2, 1927, the daughter of the late Richard and Vivian (Butterfield) Cochrane. She married Lewis M. Peterson in Nov. 3, 1946; he preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 2016. As a wife and homemaker, Violet raised 5 children. In her later years, she continued with her love of children by running the nursery at Tamarack Health Club. There she developed the character she called "Bluebelle the Clown". In her homemade clown costume and big blue wig, she entertained many children at birthday parties and other events. The children loved her and some staying in touch with her for many years. She was an avid reader and talented crafter.Survivors include her sister, Ella Kurtz Wakerhauser; children, Linda (Dennis) Schneller, Sue (James) Polnow, Marvin Peterson, LuAnn (Donald) Scott, and Richard Peterson; grandchildren, Timothy (Tiffany) Schneller, Lucas (Laura) Schneller, Jennifer (Andrew) Shea, Stephanie Accardo, Rebecca Grant, Sam Peterson, Kelly Peterson, Emily (Jeffery) Barnacle, Sarah (David) Larson, and Buddy Schultz; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.There will be no funeral service. A private interment will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo. Memorials will be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.The family of Violet Peterson would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Meadowview Assisted Living Memory Care and Agrace Hospice for the kindness and compassion they showed to our mother while she was in their care.
