Eldon F. Johnson


Eldon F. Johnson, age 87, of Baraboo, WI passed away May 16, 2017.Eldon is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris (Olson) Johnson; daughters, Ann (Mark) Graham, Sandra (Rob) Mork; grandchildren, Jeff (Lisa) Mork, Justin (Casey) Schofield-Mork, Nicholas Graham, Lindsey Graham; and great-grandchildren, Dylan Mork and Logan Mork. He is survived by sisters, Dorothy (Leroy) Lathrop, Carol (Oliver) Wallin, and Marilyn (Bill) Holiday. He was preceded in death by daughter, Nancy Johnson and siblings, Raymond (survived by Phyllis) Johnson and Florence (Daniel) Thronson.Eldon was born on April 21, 1930 to Ernest and Irma (Heins) Johnson. He graduated from Gays Mills High School and continued on to receive a teaching degree from Platteville. Eldon volunteered for the draft during the Korean War and served as a clerk as part of the army of occupation in Germany.Eldon grew up on a farm and worked hard through his childhood and young adult life on the farm. He worked as Manager of Babson Brothers Milking Machines and managed dealers in the southern third of the State of Illinois. His career at Production Credit Association took him from Portage to Antigo to Baraboo, WI. He especially enjoyed working with young farmers and helping them reach their financial goals.Eldon married Doris Olson on Dec. 22, 1957 and they spent 60 wonderful years together. They loved traveling on vacations and one of their favorite spots was Alaska. Eldon loved the outdoors including hunting, hiking, and enjoying nature. He had a good sense of humor and loved getting together with friends and family throughout his years. After retiring, Eldon managed a wooded plot of land, spent many hours on this land, and shared his love of nature with his grandchildren.Eldon enjoyed pinochle and the people he played with. He was active in Cardiac Rehab and enjoyed spending time there with other patients and staff. He also enjoyed his coffee and breakfast groups. Eldon served as a Baraboo Alderman and was a member of American Legion, Greenwood VFW, Golden K, and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Karen Hofstad officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Military Rites will be conducted by the Greenwood Memorial VFW Post 987 at the church following the service. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
