John F. Kienow


John F. Kienow, age 77 of Baraboo passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. John, son of Fred and Elsie (Miller) Kienow, was born November 25, 1939 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. In his youth he was active in Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. John graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1958. John proudly served in the US Navy from 1959 through 1963. On June 25, 1966, John was united in marriage to Kathryn Meyer in Waupun, Wisconsin. John retired from Pointon Heating and Air Conditioning in 2004, after working there for over 20 years as a sheet metal worker.He was a plank owner of USS Kitty Hawk CVA/CV63, member of USS Kitty Hawk Veteran Association, member and past commander of American Legion Post 26, Baraboo, member of Baraboo Veteran's Honor Guard, member and past Chef de Gare Sauk Co. 40 et 8, member Knight's of Columbus, Baraboo, 50 year plus member and past worthy president of Eagles Club. In his leisure time, John enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, playing cards, woodworking and being together with family and friends.John is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; children Daniel (Diane) Kienow, and Victoria (Richard) Thompson; grandchildren, Jake & Hunter Kluender, Michelle, Amanda & David Kienow; mother-in-law, Agnes Meyer; brothers-in-law, Edward (Bonnie) Meyer, Charles (Lois) Meyer and sister-in-law, Mary (Charlie) Komosa as well as other relatives and many friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen (Lloyd) Lemke and father-in-law, Paul Meyer.A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Redlin Funeral Home, 401 Madison Ave. in Baraboo and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Military rites will be conducted by the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard on Saturday following mass. Burial will be held at a later date at Highland Memory Garden in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Memorials may be made to SJS Cancer Support Team or USS Kitty Hawk Veteran Association.
