Barbara J. Paris, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and child of God, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the age of 85.She was born in Madison, Wisconsin on May 26, 1931, the daughter of George and Beulah Watson. She attended Madison East High School. On April 29, 1950 she was united in marriage to Broadus "Gene" Paris at Bashford Methodist Church in Madison.Barbara was employed as a secretary by Oscar Mayer and Co. in Madison. Barbara and her family moved to Baraboo in 1953 where they purchased a Standard Oil Station and garage on 8th Street where Kwik Trip is now.She worked in the Baraboo School District for 28 years as secretary to the School Nurse and later to John B. Young, Principal and other principals who followed. She retired in 1994.She was an avid tennis player for many years and traveled to small tournaments playing singles and doubles, often bringing home trophies. After retirement she worked 22 years part-time for Homeward Bound as a Supportive Home Care worker. She had many clients over the 22 years she worked there. She enjoyed spending time with her clients, taking them shopping, cleaning, cooking and doing various other tasks.She was a member of Emanuel United Methodist church and served as a Sunday School Teacher, Emanuel School Teacher, Bible School Teacher and member of United Methodist Women. She was also Church Secretary at Emanuel during the building of the new church.She is survived by her husband Broadus "Gene" of Baraboo; her son, Steven of Oakdale, MN, her son, Michael (Suzanne) of Lino Lakes, MN, her daughter Linda (Greg) Bauer of Champlin, MN. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and their families. She dearly loved her grandchildren; Matthew, Brian and Adam Schiesl, Kristin and Jason (Amy) Paris, Ken and Maxine Yamazaki, and Erin Bowe as well as her six beautiful great-grandchildren, Austin, Cayliegh, Alyssa, Brayden, Peggy and Ivan.She enjoyed many different crafts and loved playing cards with friends. Her favorite pastime was taking her grandchildren to the activities in the Dells. She enjoyed their summer visits to Baraboo and loved taking them to the Circus World Museum, the Dells and Great America.She was preceded in death by her parents, Beulah and George Watson; brother, Bruce and sister-in-law, Burnette Watson; an infant daughter, Susan Marie who died in 1958; daughter-in-law, Peggy Paris and brother-in-law, Charles Paris.Barb and her family would like to thank Dr. Carlson, Agrace Hospice Care and all of their staff, especially Deb, as well as the members of Emanuel United Methodist Church and friends and family for their love and support.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Emanuel United Methodist Church in Baraboo with Pastor Blake Overlien officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the church as well as from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Memorials preferred to SJS Cancer Support Team. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
