Madalynne L. Lyon


Madalynne L. Lyon, age 94 died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center after a brief stay. She had previously lived at Our House Assisted Living in Baraboo where after 92 years she was fondly given the nickname of "Maddie". Madalynne, daughter of Roland F. and Selma M. (Stroede) LaMar was born in Fairfield Township April 30, 1922. On Oct. 12, 1940 she was united in marriage to Earl A. Lyon. Madalynne graduated from Baraboo High School and entered the work place at St. Mary's Ringling Hospital as a nurse's aide and eventually retired from St. Clare Hospital. Her hobbies included reading and history; particularly family history. Madalynne was a descendant of the Wallace Rowan family that settled in the Baraboo area in 1839; they were recognized as a sesquicentennial family of the Baraboo Valley on July 24, 1999. She was a longtime parishioner of West Baraboo Church of God and at one time was a Sunday School teacher. Madalynne also participated in their Bible Studies. She is survived by her three children, Nancy L. (William) Haskins of Baraboo, Janice J. Newell of Lakewood, CO and Steven R. (Grace) Lyon of Pittsburg, PA; six grandchildren, Dale (Shawn) Haskins, Tamara (James) Mooney, Kirby (Jaimy) Haskins, Glen (Cara) Newell, Madalyn (John) Snyder and Steven A. Lyon; 12 great-grandchildren, D. Roland Haskins, Lindsay S. Haskins, Joshua T. Skilondz, Michael J. Mooney, Chantalle D. Mooney, Summer L. Mooney, Autumn J. Mooney, Ryan E. Haskins, Kyle E. Haskins, Riley I. Haskins, Audra N. Snyder and Hannah S. Snyder; she is further survived by her sister, Barbara (Les) Roesler of Wisconsin Dells as well as other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Phyllis (Arthur) Hill and her brother, Vernon (Lucille Apker) LaMar.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1 p.m. at West Baraboo Church of God with Pastor Derick Bacon and Pastor William Haskins co-officiating. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
