Audrey Mae Wendt


Audrey Mae Wendt, age 97 of Baraboo passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center. Audrey, daughter of Louis M. Anderson and Anna (Clark) Anderson was born on April 10, 1919 in Baraboo at home. Audrey was loved by many people she worked for as a babysitter and cleaner. She also worked at Badger Ordnance until the second world war ended. Audrey was united in marriage on April 27, 1946 at her parents' home to Raymond R. Wendt, who preceded her in death after 56 years of happy marriage. Ray died after a brave struggle with ALS Jan. 3, 2000.She was an active member of First Presbyterian church and an ordained elder; she served faithfully in all of her duties. She was active in United Presbyterian Women, particularly the monthly birthday parties for the residents at Sauk County Health Care Center. Audrey was also very active in Eastern Star and held many offices. She volunteered at St. Clare Meadows for over 25 years and at the Commission on Aging for more than 15 years putting together their newsletters. For many years she was active in Church Women United of Baraboo. Most recently, she devotedly served at the Presbyterian/Ecumenical service at St. Clare Meadows each Friday.She was most grateful to Tim (Terri) Markley, handyman for his support and care, during Ray's illness and afterwards. She also loved her church family who loved her as family as well. She will be dearly missed by her church family and her many friends.Audrey is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and brother, Glenn (Dori) Anderson.Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. at First United Presbyterian Church in Baraboo with Pastor Lisa Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
