Nancy Ann Blum


Nancy Ann Blum, age 55 of West Baraboo passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017 at UW Hospital with family by her side. Nancy, daughter of Louis and Lorraine (Bergren) Hellewell was born Sept. 22, 1961 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She was a graduate of Baraboo High School, Class of 1980. Nancy furthered her education by obtaining a Bachelors of Elementary Education and Phy Ed from Winona State University and a Masters of Education with a specialty in Learning Disability and Emotional/Behavioral Disability from Edgewood College. Nancy worked as an EMT-I with the Baraboo Ambulance from 1996-1998 at which time she started her career for the Baraboo School District as a Special Education Teacher in 1998 until the time of her death. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gilda's Club and Baraboo Education Association. In her free time Nancy enjoyed reading, cross-stitching and spending time with her family.Survivors include her loving husband, Tim of Baraboo; children, Matthew (Samantha) Blum of Kenosha, Michele (Tom) Walters of Moody, Texas; grandchildren, Katelyn Krieg, Victor Krieg and Matthew Hennings all of Moody, Texas; she is further survived by her mother, Lorraine Hellewell of Baraboo; brothers, Joseph Hellewell of Bailey, Colorado, Louis (Kathy) Hellewell of Spring, Texas; sisters, Judith (Peter) McDonald of Madison, Darlene (Clark) Nielsen of Marrietta, Georgia; in-laws, Ralph (Betty) Blum as well as other relatives and many friends.She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Hellewell; and her son, Joshua M. Blum.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Eric Justus officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Redlin Funeral Home as well as at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UW Carbone Cancer Center. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Rice and staff at UW Hospital for the care shown to Nancy.
