Lois E. Sloan


Lois E. Sloan, age 91 of Baraboo passed away on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells. Lois, daughter of Joseph and Ethel Sloan was born in Jacksonville, Florida on Nov. 27, 1924. She graduated from Senn High School in Chicago, Illinois. She then attended Minneapolis Business College. She moved to California and worked for several departments in the State Department including Dept. of Mental Hygiene and Public Health, Fish and Game. In 1980 she graduated from Antioch University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in music and art therapy. In 1981, she moved to Seattle and worked for the Presbyterian Presbytery of Seattle.A long-time lover of music she played the violin in her early years then learned to play the harp. She was a member of the Folk Harp Society. She took her talents as an Irish harpist to nursing homes and many events.Loving Ireland where her father was born she traveled there with him several times. In 1984, she applied to the Ireland Outreach International in Dublin. She moved there and worked as a secretary and counselor for young people from other countries in Lucan, Ireland.Survivors include her brother, Robert (Laura) Sloan; niece, Kristin Brown of Mississippi and her children, Rachel, Alexis, Jacob and Riley; nephew, Scott (Tiffany) Sloan of Baraboo and their children, Peyton and Wyatt. She is also survived by many friends in the bay area of California.Funeral Services will be held Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Redlin Funeral Home with Pastor Lisa Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.The family extends a special thanks to the Golden Living Center and to Agrace Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
