Rex D. Thomas


Rex D. Thomas, age 93 of Baraboo passed away on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 with his family by his side. Rex, son of Perry and Irma (Davis) Thomas was born Feb. 19, 1923 in River Falls, WI. He attended Leach Creek Grade School and Baraboo High School. He proudly served in WWII in the Third Army, fourth armored. On June 15, 1946 he was united in marriage to Audrey Bazzill at Trinity Episcopal Church in Baraboo. Rex was a Master Plumber in the Baraboo area. He was very active at Trinity Episcopal Church and also worked as a volunteer for Circus World Museum. He will be missed by family and friends.Rex is survived by his four children, Terri (Denise) of Baraboo, Steven of Baraboo, Linda (Jeff) Morton of Lake Delton, Jackie (Wayne) Vander Zanden of Verona and daughter-in-law, Anne Marie Thomas of Wauwatosa; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Thomas, Tom Morton, Jill (Chris) Frederick, Brian (Julie) Vander Zanden, Ben (Jen) Thomas, Emily Thomas, Chad (Stephanie) Vander Zanden, Paul Thomas, Mitchell Thomas, Suzanna Thomas; nine great-grandchildren, Steve, Brennan, Ian, Abbigail, Lauryn, Kayla, Rain, Hailey and Nicole; brothers-in-law, Rod Sprecher, Clinton Bazzill; sister-in-law, Jan Bazzill and many nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Audrey on July 31, 2016; son, Michael; grandson, Matthew Martin Thomas; parents; brother, Bernard; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Sprecher, June Pond and Betty Peterson, Janet Bazzill; brother-in-law, Roger Bazzill.A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with Father Scott Seefeldt officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Inurnment will follow at Trinity Episcopal Memorial Garden where military rites will be conducted by the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.The family would like to thank Dr. Flygt, the staff at Oak Park Place and Home Health United Hospice for the compassionate care given to our father.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Trinity Episcopal Church or University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.
