Craig L. Deitrich


Craig L. Deitrich, age 60 of Reedsburg, died on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. He was born on Oct. 6, 1955, in Reedsburg, son of Frank and June (Krause) Deitrich. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1973, serving as an infantryman for about a year until his medical discharge. On Dec. 14, 1978, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Zimmerman of Baraboo. This marriage was blessed with four children - Ben, Tony, Jenny and Ashley. A workingman, Craig provided for his family through several career paths, but family was his best and proudest accomplishment. Besides wife and children his interests included taking drives on country roads, spending time in the outdoors, and watching westerns and NASCAR on TV.Craig was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; son, Ben; his parents; Kathy's parents, Leo and Marge Zimmerman; brothers, Norman, Jim and Mike (Squirrel), and sister, Nancy Lamers. He is survived by his son, Anthony; daughters, Jennifer and Ashley, all of Baraboo; brothers, Steven and John (Ann) of Reedsburg and Darrell (Karen) of Hillpoint; sisters, Darlene Brenson of Tomah, Sharon (Judy) Maly of North Las Vegas, NV and Joanne (Kenneth) Kruse of Reedsburg; brother-in-law, Jeffrey (Bear) Lamers of Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law, Pauline Deitrich of Reedsburg; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor Nick Maglietto officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Military Rites will be conducted by the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard at the church following the service. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Reedsburg. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.October 6th would have been Craig's 61st birthday. The family asks all who knew Craig to remember him on the 6th with acts of kindness, whether it be toward family or loved ones, or a random stranger. Also, keep his children in your prayers; especially Jenny, who will be undergoing a surgery for breast cancer on that day.
