Lois E. Krunnfusz


Lois E. Krunnfusz, 84, of Baraboo, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at UW Hospital. She was born on March 19, 1932 to Dios and Mary (Daugherty) Eaton in Elgin, Ill. Lois married her high school sweetheart, Gordon Krunnfusz, on Aug. 23, 1952 in Elgin and they remained deeply in love throughout their lives. She retired in 1995 after more than 30 years in various positions with SSM Health at St Clare Hospital in Baraboo, retiring in the position of Director of Patient Care Services. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Baraboo for over 45 years.Lois' nurturing and caring spirit was reflected in her passion for nursing and continued after her retirement in her service and participation with numerous community groups. In her understated way, she touched many lives by listening carefully, honing in on the true needs and applying her cheerful pragmatism towards simply making things better with her upbeat, can-do attitude. She was a faithful member of P.E.O. International for over 45 years and active with the InterFaith Volunteer Network and the St. Clare Hospital Auxiliary. Her zest for life was apparent every day, reflected in her large circle of friends whom she treasured dearly. Over the years, she was active in many social groups and clubs including her morning swim group, dominoes, and various bridge clubs amongst others. Lois enjoyed picnics anywhere and in any weather, was an avid reader, a world-wide traveler both with her husband Gordon and later with friends, and loved cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers surpassing even her husband's enthusiasm for the teams. She took special delight in her grandchildren, including taking them in small groups to Wales with Gordon, attending their sporting events and concerts all over the region, playing games with them, making her Scotcheroos, and making herself available anytime and any place to talk with them about anything. Lois is survived by her children, David (Nancy) of Naperville, Ill., Dan (Cathy) of Mt. Horeb, Kathy (Rick) Miller of DeForest, Linda (Clyde) Neville of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; and her 12 grandchildren, Delvan Neville and Karen (Sam) Vandergaw; Emily (Michael) Chapman, Allison, and Elizabeth Krunnfusz; Andrea (Tony) Krunnfusz-Grabarczyk and Jason Krunnfusz; Samantha, Joel, and Anna Miller; and Connor and Katie Morse. Other survivors include her sister-in-laws, Janet (Seth) Stearns of Centre Harbor, N.H and Yvonne Eaton of Bonita Springs, Fla.; many nieces and nephews, and friends.She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon; her parents Dios and Mary Eaton; her brother Robert Eaton; her sister- and brother-in-law Virginia and John Hoffman; and mother- and father-in-law, Cleytus and Edna Krunnfusz.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 615 S. Broadway St., Baraboo, with Pastor Marianne Cotter officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 24 at Redlin Funeral Home, 401 Madison Ave., Baraboo, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services at church on Thursday. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, St. Clare Hospital Foundation, or St. Mary's Hospital Foundation.
