James W. Schulze


James "Jim" Schulze, age 47 of Baraboo passed away on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016. Jim, son of Jon and Karen (Towers) Schulze was born Aug. 19, 1968 in Baraboo. He attended St. John's Lutheran School and graduated from Baraboo High School. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Omaha SSN 692; he was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Hawaii. Upon his honorable discharge he was awarded numerous medals including Submarine Warfare Breast Insignia, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Meritorious Unit Commendation. On March 17, 1989 he was united in marriage to Darcy Hill at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Baraboo. He will be remembered for being a mentor and teacher of life lessons to many as well as supportive, hard-working and a do-it-yourself type of person. Jim was a loving father and husband that was honest, trustworthy, compassionate and understanding. In his free time he enjoyed cabining' with his family, camping and fishing. He loved motorcycle rides along the Mississippi throughout the beautiful country roads. Jim also found joy in bowling lunches with co-workers. He was a member of Circus City Sportsman Club. He was employed by Sound Devices in Reedsburg as an Engineering Technician.He is survived by his loving wife, Darcy; daughter, Taylor; son, Brandon; grandson; Carter Breunig; parents, Jon (Karen) Schulze; mother-in-law, LaDorna Hill; brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott (Kathy) Hill, Chris (Dennis Bertz) Hill, Holly (Steve) Haas, and Bill (Jody) Hill; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Erin and his father-in-law, William Hill.Private burial services will be held at Natural Path Sanctuary at the Farley Center in Verona. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 at his home from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Agrace Staff including nurse Deb P. and the Indigo Team; Dr. Sam Lubner as well as the great group of close friends and family that have been a great support system to the family over the last few months. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
