Betty Jeanette Krueger

Betty Jeanette Krueger passed away on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016 at St. Clare Hospital at the age of 83. Betty was born Oct. 24, 1932 to Jens R. and Laura J. (Rehn) Nelson in the Township of Lewiston. She lived on a farm in Newport Township until the age of 12; she then moved to Wisconsin Dells and graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in May of 1950. She married Willis "Bill" Krueger on June 30, 1950 and moved to Baraboo where they lived for 55 years; then moved to Delton Township in 2005 and lived there until 2013 at which time she moved to Baraboo.Betty was a "stay at home Wife and Mom" raising her three sons, attending to the daily tasks and enjoyed gardening and canning the vegetables at harvest time. In 1993 she had extensive back surgery, which curtailed the gardening, so she planted the flowers in pots and hanging baskets, which helped to fulfill her gardening instincts. She was the Secretary/Treasurer of her bowling league for 13 years and enjoyed the sport, the companionship and friendship of the ladies on her team. She also took up golfing at the age of 37 and totally loved that new experience of going with her husband and friends to many of the courses around the state and in Arkansas. She also enjoyed going out to dinner and playing cards with good friends. At the age of 70 she finally put her hands on a computer and enjoyed the e-mail messages immensely, plus the learning experience. Sometimes a lot of frustration when the thing didn't work right.Betty loved her family more than anything and they were always the most important part of her life. She was so proud of them and their accomplishments. Her grandchildren were such a joy, and remembering the things they did as toddlers and even when they were grown, would always bring a smile and a chuckle. She never tired of taking lots of pictures of them, and always carried some in her wallet to show off to anyone she could "coax" into looking at them. Betty was a member of Emanuel United Methodist Church. She is survived by her three beloved sons, Bradley (Denise) of Lake Delton, Kevin (Rosie) of Baraboo and Kerry (Daunette) of Byron, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Brian, Jennifer, and Stephanie; two great-grandchildren, Carson and Blake Krueger; a sister, Mildred Kihn of Sacramento, California as well as many nieces and nephews and some very special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband "Bill" on Sept. 11, 2009 after a marriage of 59 and a half years; her parents, Jens and Laura (Rehn) Nelson; sister, Thelma Leege Graham; four brothers, Glen, Raymond, Jens Jr., and Harley Nelson.Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 at 5 p.m. at Emanuel United Methodist Church with Pastor Blake Overlien officiating.
