John Clifford Turner


John Clifford Turner, age 100 of Baraboo passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016 at St. Clare Meadows. John, son of Ivan and Ada (Maxwell) Turner was born June 3, 1916 in Melvin, Iowa. He graduated from Baraboo High School in 1936. On December 3, 1940 he was united in marriage to Hazel Kurtz. John was the owner operator of Turner Oil Company Inc. for over 40 years. In his free time he was an avid bowler and loved spending winters in Florida with friends over the years. Throughout the years John loved spending time with family and friends on Lake Wisconsin. John was very active and a lifelong member of the Elks Club. He was a past president of the Wisconsin Petroleum Association, he was involved with the Shriners and enjoyed his time with members of the Koshawago Club.He is survived by his son, Scott (Barb) Turner; sister, Lorraine Kindschi; grandchildren, Pam (Jim) Christy, Wendy (Keith) Walsh, Jeff and Jim Turner, Judy Juneau, Kevin (Gina) Helmer, Heather (Richard) Kimpfbeck, Stephanie Helmer and Mary (Brad) Foster; many great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; parents; daughter, Mary Helmer; son, Tom Turner and sister, Marjorie Turner.Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Clare Meadows for the past 4 years of loving care they provided. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
