Juanita S. Greenwood


Juanita Sarah Greenwood, 95, of Baraboo, passed away after living a full and complete life on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center. Juanita was born on Sept. 9, 1920 in Reedsburg, the daughter of Harris and Vera (Smith) Thorne. She married George A. Greenwood on Oct. 15, 1938. She was a homemaker all of her life and spent her time lovingly caring for her family. She was also the bookkeeper for the family business, GA Greenwood Forest Products, for many years. She was an honored member of the Greenwood VFW Post 987 Women's Auxiliary. Survivors include her children, four sons, Robert (Sandra) Greenwood, Roger (Heidi) Greenwood, Russell (Carol) Greenwood, Ronald (Sharlotte); daughters, Karen (Royce) Lockner and Patricia (Carl) Zirzow; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Betty Kelly of North Carolina and Bernice Resa of Texas. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Shirley (Lenny) Peterson; and brother-in-law, Donald "Pat" Pearson; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George on March 14, 1999; son-in-law, Carl Zirzow; granddaughters, Tracy Zirzow and Becky Greenwood; and great-grandson, James Greenwood.The family would like to thank special friend, Nancy McNamara who spent many hours helping care for Juanita, and the staff at St. Clare Meadows for the fine care she received while a resident there.Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Baraboo with Pastor Lisa Taylor officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow service at the Walnut Hill Cemetery. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
