Judy Gehrke


Judith "Judy" Gehrke, age 103 of Baraboo entered her eternal home on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016 and resided at Our House Assisted Living. Judy was born Feb. 19, 1913 in the town of Honey Creek to Herbert and Emma (Schroeder) Hager. She married Reinhold Gehrke on Jan. 9, 1932; he preceded her in death on July 22, 2004 after 72 years of marriage. In her earlier life, she worked at McArthur's Hammock Factory and Flambeau Plastics and enjoyed working with her husband on the farm, until their move to Baraboo. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, crocheting, bingo and especially polka dancing and traveling.Judy is survived by her three children, Donna (friend, Ted) Gerhke of Madison, Audrey (Virgil) Belter of Janesville and Robert (Katherine) Gehrke of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, two cousins and many friends.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty; son-in-law, Dave Warner; one sister and three brothers.She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Freedom where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 at 11 a.m., friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church; Pastor Andrew Meyer will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom.Judy was a special person to so many people and she loved you all. She was a strong, compassionate, caring and loving lady and will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
