Carna S. Manthey


 Carna Sue Manthey, 71, of Baraboo, WI, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 surrounded by family in the comfort of her home as she requested. She was born April 13, 1944 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of John and Artis (Anderson) Cheadle. Carna was a 1962 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. She married Ty Manthey on June 12, 1965 in Beloit, WI. Carna dedicated her life to music. From the age of 14 she began her music career at First Baptist Church-Beloit and dedicated a lifetime to numerous churches as an organist and choir director. Carna obtained her Music Education Degree specializing in pipe organ from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1966. After moving to St. Louis, Missouri, Carna pursued a degree from Maryville University where she obtained her degree in music therapy and continued to dedicate her love for music working for the Delmar Gardens Enterprises Nursing and Retirement Homes in the St. Louis area. Carna is survived by her husband, Ty; son, Scott (Nikki) Manthey; daughter, Michelle (Scot) O'Connor; grandchildren, Ricky and Jeannie Manthey, Colton, Ty, Payton and Cash O'Connor; siblings John (Barb) Cheadle, Richard (Sherry) Cheadle, Jerry (Deanne) Cheadle, Joanne (Tom) Wood, Bill (Patricia) Cheadle, and Betty (Steve) Hartman; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents; brother; James Cheadle; and nephew, Andrew Wood.The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice, Bright Star Care, and Redlin Funeral Home for their support and assistance.A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, 617 Public Ave., Beloit, WI with Rev. Steve Hartman and Rev. Scot O'Connor officiating. Redlin Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
