Louis Setzke

A carpenter at heart, Louis F. Setzke finished his last job by building his own staircase to heaven on January 15th, 2016. He was born in Madison on July 5th, 1941 to Erwin and Armella "Molly" Setzke. For more than four decades, he owned and operated Setzke Carpentry, Inc. in Prairie du Sac. He was known best for his attention to detail by measuring twice and cutting once, his witty sense of humor with perfect timing, and his compassionate, giving heart.Louis was married to Frances "Cookie" Setzke on September 30th, 1961. Together in their 54 years of marriage, they have been active members of Saint Joseph Parish. Louis was most proud of the life and family he built with Cookie: son Mark, his wife Diana and daughter Faith, daughter Holly, her husband Phil Marx, and their children Teyanna Loether (Tyler) and Nathan, and daughter Jennifer. Special thanks to Dr. James Heun and his team for providing Louis with exceptional care and entertainment. To honor Louis putting to rest his hammer and saw, visitation will be at Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo on Thursday, January 21st from 4-7pm. A private family service is being held. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for a scholarship in Louis' name that will be given to a student in a trades program.
