Shirley A. Wasilewski


Shirley Ann Wasilewski, 78, of Baraboo passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the St. Clare Meadows Care Center. She was born the daughter of Julius and Martina (Robers) Banks on September 26, 1937 in Lyons. Shirley was united in marriage to Stanley Wasilewski in Chicago in 1964.For many years Shirley worked as an operator for Ma Bell Telephone Company; she started in Baraboo, then transferred to Madison, and finally Milwaukee. She truly enjoyed working for the telephone company and always loved to share her experiences. She eventually moved back to Baraboo with her family and worked at Spurgeon's Department Store for nearly 15 years. Then she worked at Teel Plastics until she retired, to take care of her grandchildren. Shirley absolutely loved gardening, so much so, that she could have been a botanist. She kept everything in pristine order and considered her yard a labor of love. More than anything Shirley enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.She is survived by her children, Kim and Jon Wasilewski; grandchildren, Dakota and Lindsey Fahrenkrug, and Evan and Jake Wasilewski. She is further survived by her siblings, Jean, John, Mike, Mary, and Steven; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley; and sister, Luella.A Memorial Mass will be held at 11am on Friday, January 15, 2016 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Baraboo with Father Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Redlin Funeral Home from 4pm-6pm, and on Friday from 10am until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow services at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the ER staff and Dr. Mathers at St. Clare Hospital, the TLC staff at UW Madison, and Shirley's "angels" at St. Clare Meadows Care Center for their compassionate care.
