Dorothy Zamzow


Dorothy Zamzow, age 93, of Baraboo passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the St. Clare Meadows Care Center in Baraboo. She was born the daughter of George and Edith (Cook) Beahm on July 16, 1922 in Marcellon Township. Dorothy was united in marriage to Alwyn C. Zamzow on November 19, 1942.Over the years Dorothy worked at a variety of jobs to help support her family; her career started working alongside her husband, Alwyn on their farm. Together they also ran Zamzow's Store on Highway 78 throughout the 1950's and 1960's. Before her retirement she worked at the Baraboo High School kitchen for nearly 25 years. Dorothy was always an active person, she enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, and traveling. Her greatest joy was always spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Dorothy is survived by her children, Raymond (Beth) Zamzow of Portage and Faye Kozelka of Estero, FL; grandchildren, Dr. Daniel (Noreen) Zamzow, Karen (Chad) Larsen, LTC Glenn (Amy) Kozelka, SGM Dale (Jessica) Kozelka, and Karen (Lee) Bessel; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Audrey Beahm; and dear friend, Marilyn Cuff; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alwyn; and siblings, Ruth, Verne, Harry, Gordon (Evelyn) Winston (Helen), Floyd, LaVere (Alta), Kenneth (Elenora), Clayton, and John Beahm.Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo with Pastor Paula Bremer officiating. Visitation will be held from 12pm NOON until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow service at the Shanks Cemetery in Caledonia. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the USO.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Danny Sessler and staff, all the staff of Oak Park Place and St. Clare Meadows Care Center for their wonderful care.
