Catherine “Kay” L. Bainbridge


Catherine "Kay" Louise Bainbridge, age 88, of Baraboo passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the St. Clare Hospice House. She was born on November 15, 1926 to Clinton and Marieta (Jones) Liddicoat in Cobb. She was united in marriage to John Bainbridge on June 30, 1956, he preceded her death in 2004.Kay started her working career in Baraboo as a legal secretary for Dithmar and Greenhalgh Law Office; which later led to the startup of Sauk County Abstract and Title. She later worked for Land Title Service as a Title Insurance Specialist. After retirement she was elected as clerk for the Township of Baraboo; where she served for 20 years. Kay was a member of the Sauk County Home and Community Education Association formerly known as Homemakers for nearly 60 years; in addition she was a member of the state HCE Chorus which traveled to Europe for overseas tours. She also was 4-H general leader while her children were active. Kay was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Baraboo; where she served as President of the United Methodist Women for 10 years. She was an avid bowler and was a member of the Baraboo Women's Bowling Association, and bowled at many state tournaments. Also a member of the Bell Friends of Wisconsin; she was proud of the fact that she had over 500 bells. She enjoyed watching many sports. Kay is survived by her children, James (Ruth) Slaughter of Las Vegas, NV, Lynn (Keith) Zick of Denzer, Bruce (Julie) Bainbridge of Teeds Grove, IA; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Scarincio, Brett (Charity) Slaughter, Derek (Aimee) Slaughter, Morgan (Megan) Olson, Whitney Olson, Aaron Olson, Kathleen (Kevin) Phillips, Elizabeth Bainbridge, and Jonathan Bainbridge; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Slaughter, Allison and Devin Slaughter. She is further survived by her sisters, Gloria LeMaster and Lois (Jim) Bleser; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; grandsons, Joshua and Brady Olson; and a sister, Jeanette Davis. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 4-7pm at the funeral home; as well as on Wednesday from 10am until the time of service. Burial will follow services at the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
