Diana M. Gantz


Diana May Gantz, age 87, of Baraboo entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 17, 2015 at the St. Clare Meadows Care Center. She was born the daughter of Paul Edwin and Mary Elizabeth (Davis) Wilkins on October 8, 1927. Diana was united in marriage to Harley Fox Gantz on September 11, 1948 in Sharon, PA.Diana attended the Seton Hill College for Women in Greensburg, PA and Michigan State University; where she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. She was the secretary to the superintendent of schools in Moline, IL for 23 years. Diana's passions were family, cooking, reading, her church community and quilting. She was very fond of her two cats, especially Florabelle. She was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church in Baraboo. Diana spent a large majority of her time volunteering for organizations such as meals on wheels, cooking for the Salvation Army and the homeless shelter, Mississippi Valley Blood Center, and making Raggedy Ann dolls for gifts and numerous fundraisers.Diana's hobby of many decades was quilting. She prided herself on making uniquely personalized quilts providing fond and lasting memories for her 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and husband of 66 years of marriage.Diana is survived by her husband, Harley; children, Laurel Willhouse, Christopher (Mary) Gantz, Derwin (Christine) Gantz, and Cameron (Heidi) Gantz. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Paul Edward Wilkins.Diana's family would like to thank the staff of St Clare Meadows for their wonderful help and support. A private family remembrance and celebration of her life will take place in early September and burial will take place at a later date.
