Patrick W. Zimmerman


Patrick Willard Zimmerman, age 50 of Baraboo was called to his heavenly home on Monday, May 4, 2015. Patrick bravely fought cancer of an unknown origin with strength, courage, and the comfort of knowing the Lord was holding him closely every step of the way.Patrick, son of Willard and Violet (Phippen) Zimmerman was born January 8, 1965 in Baraboo, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to his bride, Lisa Griffith at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Baraboo on April 25, 1992. The testament of their love and commitment has been a source of great joy and served as an example for their many family and friends.Patrick was loved by many and was a great friend to everyone. Through his smile, sense of humor and laughter, he brought happiness to everyone he knew.He was employed at William S. Middleton Memorial V.A. hospital in Madison, WI as a Registered Nurse. Nursing was Patrick's calling and passion. Upon completing his nursing degree he was pleased to say that he never had to "work" another day in his life. He felt honored to care for the veterans, and privileged to be with such a knowledgeable, close-knit group of healthcare professionals.The only thing that was more important to Patrick than his profession was his family, his beloved wife Lisa, and his adored children, Emmett Scott and Caroline Rose "Carlie". He was extremely proud of both of them and enjoyed attending their numerous sporting events and musical performances. In his free time he enjoyed being with his family at their cabin on Long Lake; fishing, hunting, and boating. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; his son, Emmett; and daughter, Caroline; his parents, Willard and Violet (Phippen) Zimmerman; father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Caroline (Radke) Siberz; all of Baraboo. He is further survived by his siblings; sisters, Pam Zimmer of Baraboo, Sheryl (Steve) Michaelson of Williams Bay, Teresa (Michael) Browning of West Virginia, and brother, Mike (Heidi) Zimmerman of Baraboo. Sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Baumgarten of Baraboo, John Griffith of Milwaukee, Rose (Gary) Douglas of West Allis, Mary Steffen and Gordie Morlan of Reedsburg, Connie Griffith of Baraboo, Nancy (Ken) Ender of Baraboo, Jeff Griffith of Oregon, Judy Gaffney of Baraboo, Jim Griffith of Baraboo and many loved nieces and nephews. He is further survived many other relatives and dear friends.Patrick was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ludwig and Elsie (Dieter) Zimmerman and maternal grandparents, Emmett and Margaret (Kosin) Phippen; his brother-in-law, Jim Baumgarten; as well as his loyal chocolate lab, Chloe.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Baraboo with Father Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Redlin Funeral Home from 2 p.m.- 5 p.m.; continued visitation will take place on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow services at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
