Orville Cecil Eyers


Orville Cecil Eyers of Baraboo, and wintered in Donna, TX passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Amara Hospice in Edinburg, Tx; at the age of 93. Orville, son of Fred and Hazel (Herring) Eyers was born Oct. 1, 1921 in Madison. He was united in marriage to Virginia Raschein on Dec. 18, 1942 in Baraboo, she preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 2004. The day after his marriage Orville was inducted in the U.S. Army to serve in WWII. He landed in France 8 days after D-Day, serving in the 103rd Artillery Field Division. He returned home in 1945 and started farming in the Baraboo area and resided there all his life. Orville and Virginia, along with their son, Vilas, wintered in South Texas for many years. He was always interested in things mechanical and collected Model-T Fords, other cars and tractors. His family participated in the Badger Steam and Gas Show from the very beginning. He is survived by his son, Vilas Eyers; foster son, Fred (Carol) Radtke of St. Germaine; foster daughter, Irene (Al) Prezibilski of Chippewa Falls; brother, Kendall Eyers of Columbia, SC; sister, Genevieve (Merton) VonWald of Prairie du Sac; sisters-in-law, Lois Lundgren and Shelby Raschein; brother-in-law, Lauren (Karren) Raschein. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00a.m. at the Redlin Funeral Home, 401 Madison Ave, Baraboo, WI with Luther Raine officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. at the funeral home. Continued visitation will take place from 10:00a.m. Friday, until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Sauk Prairie Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Baraboo Veteran's Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
