Joann Thayer, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Oak Park Place in Baraboo. She was born September 26, 1929 in Sparta to Richard and Eunice (Carpenter) Bennett. Joann was a 1947 graduate of Baraboo High School. She was united in marriage to Alton L. Thayer on June 15, 1949. Joann was a loving and devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Joann was a long time employee of the Baraboo Public Library where she made many friends. She was also active volunteering in the community as well as involved in many social organizations. She was an avid reader, gardener, loved to travel and enjoyed arts and crafts. She is survived by her children, Steven (Mary) Thayer, Robert (Kim) Thayer, and Lisa Thayer; grandchildren, Eric, Chelsea, and Ann Thayer, and Christopher and Michael Teclaw. Joann is further survived by her two brothers, Charles "Chuck" (Linda) Malone and John "Jack" (Sherry) Malone. Preceding her in death were her husband, Alton "Tuffy" Thayer and son, Alan Thayer. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00a.m. at Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Redlin Funeral Home, 401 Madison Ave. Baraboo with Pastor Roxie Gnatnig officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Walnut Hill Cemetery. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
