Wilma Jean Leonard


Wilma Jean Leonard, age 79 of Baraboo died on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 at St. Clare Hospital. Wilma, daughter of John James and Dorothy Anna (Payer) Hron was born July 21, 1935 in Wagner, South Dakota. She attended Ravinia Consolidated High School and graduated in 1953. Wilma was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, The Daughters of Isabella - Council of Catholic Women and Baraboo's Writers Club. Throughout her working career she had various bookkeeping and secretarial positions; she retired from the Baraboo School District after 23 years of employment.Wilma enjoyed tutoring children at Kid's Ranch. She was very active in community service and served on multiple committees. She also loved to travel, and especially loved to attend her grandchildren's events. Survivors include, her children, Larry (Julie) Leonard of Columbus, Becky (Pat) Boehm of Villa Park, Ill. and Shell Lee (Rich) Hainz of West Baraboo; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Charlotte) Hron of Virginia Beach, Virginia; sister, Joan Kniffen of Livermore, Colorado; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Thelma Sorensen.A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014 at 12, noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be held by the Daughters of Isabella at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014 at the church. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
