Gerald Lawson Norman, 72, of Baraboo went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2014. He was born on July 30, 1942 in Reedsburg, the son of late Allan and Thelma (Hutchens) Norman. On March 25, 2011 he married Cheryl A. Owen, who survives him. Known to all as Jerry, Jerry very much enjoyed camping, fishing, and just being outdoors at Castle Rock County Park, where he had his campsite located for 22 years. Jerry was also an avid hunter and for the last 48 years hunted with his life-long friend John Brabender and son-in-law Brett Jankowski for the last 10 years. Jerry completed schooling through the Reedsburg School District, and went on to work as a dump truck operator for 42 years, before retiring at the age of 62 from Milestone Materials. Jerry was a proud member of the Engineers Local 139 Union and was always sure to attend their annual picnic. During his retirement years Jerry became an actively involved member at Walnut Hill Bible Church. He spent much of his time helping others. Jerry was baptized by Pastor Dave Hutchens and Pastor Dan Gunderson on August 17, 2014, which was a very meaningful event in his life. Jerry also kept busy mowing lawns, including the Kids Ranch lawn, in which he took much pride in doing. Throughout his life Jerry remained a loyal Green Bay Packer fan and even had the chance to watch a Packer game at City Stadium at East High School in Green Bay. Jerry along with his daughter Heidi, also had the opportunity to experience the Packers play at Lambeau Field. During his early years Jerry earned the nickname "Stormin' Norman" because of his feisty attitude, which was present until his passing. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Norman of Baraboo; daughter, Heidi (Brett) Waddell of Baraboo; step-daughters, Stacy (Mike) Sis; and Jamie (Eric) Owen of Baraboo; his 10 grandchildren, Lydia, Elijah, Brett, Aiden, Abel, Bayleigh, McCartney, Jarod, Amanda, and Fawn; daughter-in-law, Amy Goff; siblings, Nancy (Jerry) Drier, David (Maureen) Norman and Patsy Edges all of Green Bay; and step-mom, Jean Norman; as well as many other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Services will be held at Noon on Monday, December 8, 2014 at the Walnut Hill Bible Church, 1900 East St., Baraboo, WI with Pastor Dave Hutchens and Pastor Dan Gunderson co-officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow services at the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
