Donald L. Nobs


Donald L. Nobs, 74 of Baraboo passed away on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born June 18, 1940 in LaValle to Harold and Evelyn (Pearson) Nobs along with "older" twin sister Dorothy Gant. He grew up in LaValle and attended Reedsburg High School. Don was in sales most of his career. He was the type of person who could talk to anyone and always remembered things about them even years later. He started his career as a Linotype Operator at the Reedsburg Times Press, then sold advertising at the Baraboo News Republic. He was approached by a farm newspaper Agri View and spent most of his career as Advertising Manager of the Southern Addition. Before retiring, he sold farm implements and cars at Johnson Sales in Arlington and ending at Trecek in Portage.He loved politics and served on the Excelsior Town Board as Supervisor for 12 years and then the Sauk County Board of Supervisors for 4 years.Don was very active with many different hobbies. He restored and drove a Model A Ford, 40 Ford Coupe, a 35 Ford truck plus several John Deere tractors and one Massey. He rode motorcycles since the age of 16 and he and wife, Mary made many trips with dear friends and family. He got his private pilots license and loved to golf, fish, hunt, garden and was a very talented wood worker. He especially enjoyed his many trips out west hunting with his son and friends. He was an animal lover, making friends with any he met.Don is survived by his wife, Mary of 38 years; son, Danny (Jane) Nobs, twin sister, Dorothy (Bill) Gant; sisters-in-law, Carole Dellevar, Ellen (Keith) Dindinger, Cecelia Nobs; step-grandchildren, Courtney and Brittany Hahn; cousins; nieces; nephews and very dear friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Evelyn Nobs; his "in-laws", Paul and Myrtle Krueger; brother, Duane; brother-in-law, Delmar Delevar and nephew, Rick Metcalf.Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Redlin Funeral Home at Noon with Pastor Steve Ohrtman officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
