Lyla E. Agema


Lyla E. Agema, age 92, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Meadow Ridge Assisted Living in Baraboo. Lyla was born on October 6, 1922, to Ernest and Frankie Sieg of Augusta, Wisconsin, and was united in marriage to John Agema on October 28, 1943. Lyla graduated from Augusta High School in 1940 and the School of Cosmetic Arts in Eau Claire in 1942. She worked in various salons in the Eau Claire area and in Baraboo, as well. For several years, she worked at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant as a guard. Lyla was a long-time committed member of Emanuel United Methodist Church having served the Lord in many areas. She was also a dedicated member of the Odd Fellow Rebekah's.Lyla will always be remembered by her generosity and helping and caring for others. She loved playing cards and spent many winters in Texas. She attracted friends of all ages who described her as warm and friendly, kind and thoughtful, and a bit witty, too. Her happiest and most precious times were when she was surrounded by her family. She is survived by her children, Jim Agema of Alvin, TX, Janet (Ronald) Harrison of Boulder Junction, Sue (Arden) Kleinsasser of Fitchburg, and Becky (Richard) Giebel of Baraboo; grandchildren, Heather (Dave) Packenham, Shawn Gross, Amber (Joshua) Tilley, Dawn Monthei, Craig (Valerie) Harrison, Trisha (Michael) Dodd, Michael (Tara Beth) Giebel, Matthew (Heather) Giebel, Meagan (Eric) Nielson, Alissa (Drew) Teig; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by sister-in-law, Norma Sieg of Augusta; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Jeane Sieg, her brother, Bill Sieg, and her daughter-in-law, Denise Agema. Memorial Services will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Emanuel United Methodist Church in Baraboo with Pastor Blake Overlien and Pastor Dianne Vielhuber co-officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am until the time of service at the church. Inurnment will take place following the service at Walnut Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Emanuel United Methodist Church. A special thank you to all of the amazing caregivers and support staff at Meadow Ridge Assisted Livingwho truly made it her home.
