Clarence W. Haggstrom


Clarence W. Haggstrom, age 88, of Merrimac passed away on Wed, Oct. 8, 2014 at the Oak Park Place-Memory Care in Baraboo. He was born the son of Axel and Anna (Carlson) Haggstrom on July 9, 1926 in Maywood, Ill. Clarence was united in marriage to Virginia Blajoff on Aug. 30, 1947; she preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 2005.Clarence proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Force, 38th Bomber Group during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Following his service career, Clarence worked as an airline maintenance mechanic foreman for United Airlines at the O'Hare Airport for 30 years, until his retirement. Some of Clarence's favorite pastimes were fishing on Lake Wisconsin and golfing. Clarence is survived by his three children, Stephen and Christina Haggstrom both of Oregon, Wis., and Julie (Richard) Powers of Columbia, MO; as well as five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is further survived by many other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; granddaughter, Ginette Kazmir; and brother, Russell Haggstrom. Funeral Services will be held at 11a.m. on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at the Redlin Funeral Home, with Pastor Jonathan Tipton officiating. Visitation will be held from 10a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Merrimac.
