Rose (O’Leary) Jauch


Rose (O'Leary) Jauch, age 100, passed away at her home in Madison on September 12, 2014. She was born in Hancock, Michigan, on April 7, 1914, the daughter of Loyal and Rose (Schellman) O'Leary. She married Christian F. Jauch in May of 1938. They moved to Duluth, Minnesota, where Chris worked with the Corps of Engineers. The family moved to Baraboo when Chris was transferred to Badger Ordinance in 1951. Rose lived in her home until April 2005, when she moved to Madison to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Rose was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and an active member of Division B and the Ladies Aid, often serving meals for church functions, and also singing in the choir. She spent many hours making "Chrismon" Tree ornaments in addition to making jeweled ornaments and crafts to sell at the annual Christmas bazaar. She attended St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Middleton while living in Madison. Rose and Chris enjoyed working on projects around the house and in later years, Rose especially liked supervising others working on projects. Some of her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, making hairpin lace afghans for her children and grandchildren, jigsaw puzzles, and playing the piano.Rose would light up when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would visit. She loved to go out to eat, especially for breakfast. She had a terrific sense of humor and was always smiling. Rose is survived by her children: Christian Philip Jauch, Baraboo, WI; David (Margie Bartley) Jauch, Pembroke Pines, FL; Daniel (Jane Allen) Jauch, Madison, WI; Robert (Allison Bildsten) Jauch, Baraboo, WI; Rose (Randy) Vine of Madison, WI. Florida grandchildren: Andrew (Gayla) Jauch and Tiffany (Juan) Rodriguez, Pembroke Pines, FL; Aaron (Maria) Jauch, Weston, FL; Jennifer (Nathan) Cassity, Howards Grove, WI, Brian (Tara) Jauch, Baraboo, WI; Leslie Jauch, Portland, OR; and Christopher Jauch, Madison, WI. Her great-grandchildren: Shelby and Savanna Jauch; Laura and Ryan Rodriguez; Christian, Nicholas and Isabella Jauch; Beth, Hannah and Spencer Cassity; and Lauren and Cooper Jauch. Rose is also survived by her nieces and nephew, Donna O'Leary-Steiner of Madison, WI, Ann Marie (Ron) Harma of The Villages, FL, and Loyal (Gretchen) O'Leary, Sun Prairie, WI, and many great-nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her husband and her parents; siblings: Julia O'Leary, Irene Haischer, Olive O'Leary, Robert O'Leary and Loyal O'Leary, II, daughter-in-law, Kathleen (Schlender) Jauch; sister-in-law, Ann O'Leary, and brother-in-law, Andrew Haischer; her nephews Andrew Haischer, Jr., and Paul Jauch; her nieces, Nancy (Haischer) Gasvoda and Jane (Jauch) Rynearson, and many of her dear close friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor Carl Schroeder officiating. Burial will take place in Houghton, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 10 a.m. until the time of services, at the church. The Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo is assisting the family. The family would like to thank the Comfort Keeper aides and Home Health United Hospice. We'd especially like to thank the nurses from Home Health United for their wonderful care of Mother, enabling her to stay in her home. We greatly appreciated Pastor Vomhoff traveling from Baraboo once a month to give Rose Communion.
