Bernadette Boyd


Bernadette "Bernie" Boyd, age 95, of Baraboo passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Sauk County Health Care Center. Bernie was born on April 23, 1919 to John and Margaret (Jordan) Schommer in Colby. She was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Boyd, Sr. on April 26, 1941 in Milwaukee. Bernie attended school in Colby. After she was married her and Bob farmed in several different areas of Wisconsin. She loved gardening, fishing, camping, playing cards with the neighbors, going out dancing; most importantly she enjoyed having her family visit. Bernie and Bob will be remembered for their great generosity; no matter who needed help they were always willing to lend a hand. She enjoyed being a homemaker, and was a member of the Homemaker's Club. Bernie was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Baraboo, and enjoyed attending all of their events. Bernie is survived by her children, Robert Boyd, Richard (Louise) Boyd, Ronald Boyd, Pamela (Terry) Putman, and Randall (Roxanne) Boyd; grandchildren, Kelly Boyd, Todd Boyd, Teresa, John-Brian Boyd, Carrie-Ann (Scott) Klang, Patrick Boyd, Dana Boyd, Dion (Matt) Murphy, Jason (Christey) Putman, and James Putman; great-grandchildren, Felicity, Zoe, McKensie, Drake, Kayla, Allison, Adeline, Dillon, Reece, Lexie, Colton, Austin, Bailey, Hailey, Jacob, Ashley, Jasmine, and Caydan. She is further survived by siblings, John (Ruth) Schommer and Mary (Joe) Buttner; sisters-in-law, Marion Schommer and Ethel Schommer; many other nieces; nephews; other relatives, and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; siblings, Joe Schommer, Leo (Mary) Schommer, Nick Schommer, Catherine (Kenneth) Boyd, Germaine (Robert) Lucht, and Marge (Frank) Koeckritz; nephews, Daniel and Douglas Boyd. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Baraboo with Father Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:30 pm- 6:30 pm on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Redlin Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at the Fairfield Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff and caregivers at the Sauk County Health Care Center for all of their loving care throughout Bernie's stay there.
