Paula L. Luetkens


Paula L. Luetkens, age 63 of Baraboo, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at St. Clare Hospice House. Paula, daughter of Paul and Dorothy (Cook) Rohde was born on Oct. 12, 1950 in Baraboo. She graduated from Baraboo High School, class of 1969 and later attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for Nursing. In the early 1970's she started working for Baraboo National Bank and continued her career holding many different positions with the bank for over 40 years. On March 27, 1976 she was united in marriage to Dennis J. Luetkens. Due to health complications she retired in February. She enjoyed being in the woods, camping, crocheting, was an avid reader and loved the Green Bay Packers. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Bell Choir. Paula was a very loving and devoted wife and mother and spent years caring for her late husband. In her later years her free time was spent with her family and playing cards with family members and friends as well as feeding and watching the critters out the window. Paula was a great caregiver for her grand-dog, Cooper.Survivors include her son, Brian (Chrystin) Luetkens of Baraboo; sister, Pat (Harland) Steinhorst of LaValle; sister-in-law, Karen (Verlyn) Schuette of Reedsburg; as well as other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2010; and an infant son, John William. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Carl Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Inurnment will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Home Health United Hospice and the St. Clare Hospice House staff for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Paula the last three months.
