Edna E. Dunse


Edna Emma Dunse, age 91, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014 at her home in Baraboo. She was born the daughter of John and Lydia (Zimmerly) Gibbs on November 1, 1922 in Sumpter. Edna was united in marriage to Robert W. Dunse on September 14, 1946; he preceded her in death in 2011. Edna enjoyed history and even discovered that her great-great-great uncle Isaac Gibbs, was the first white man to homestead on Badger Prairie, which is now the Sauk County Recreational area. He later donated the land to be used for the Pioneer Cemetery. Edna was born and raised on the old homestead in the original farmhouse. She attended King's Corner Elementary School; which later become Badger Ordnance. In her teen years, she moved to Baraboo, where she graduated from Baraboo High School in 1941. Edna was an avid reader, she enjoyed reading just about anything, magazines, books, even newspapers. She also enjoyed doing word searches. Edna had been a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Baraboo. She is survived by her only son, David R. Dunse; dear friend, her cousin, Audrey Parker; as well as many other relatives and friends. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and sister Ida Meyers. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor David Jensen officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am until the time of service, at the church. Burial will immediately follow the service at Walnut Hill Cemetery. Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family
