Dennis M. Briscoe

Dennis Michael Briscoe, age 71, of LaCrosse formerly of Baraboo passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic Health Center in LaCrosse. He was born May 1, 1943 to Harry John "Jack" and Loretta "Jane" (Lenihan) Briscoe in Baraboo. Dennis was a graduate of St. Joseph's Grade School, attended Baraboo High School, and finished his education in the service. In the fall of 1964, Dennis joined the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). After his time in the service, he returned to Baraboo; where he began work as a maintenance worker for St. Clare Hospital and eventually the Sauk County Court House. While he was living in Baraboo, Dennis was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He spent most of his leisure time at the shooting range. He also enjoyed archery and weight lifting. Dennis was a friendly person, usually ending a conversation with a handshake. He had a great personality and could make a joke of practically anything. Dennis is survived by his sister, Jacqueline Keister; and nephew, Derek Keister both of Baraboo. He is further survived by extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law. Dennis was a good man, a kind man, and a wise man. He was truly a good person, a "gentle soul" endowed with a smile that literally blew one away, "a million dollar smile". Dennis was a kind man, always putting the welfare of others before himself. His generosity knew no boundaries. Dennis was a wise man, when unencumbered by the opinions and judgments of others. Maybe, now he can rest in peace. A truly good person was taken from us- he will be sadly missed by his family. Funeral Services will be held at Noon on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the Redlin Funeral Home, 401 Madison Ave., Baraboo. Visitation will be held from 11am until the time of service, at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Baraboo. Military Rites will be conducted by the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Baraboo.
