Delores M. Rose


Delores M. Rose, age 81 of Baraboo, passed away on July 20, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 26, 1933, to Olaf and Lily Olson in Valders, WI. Most of her life was spent in Wisconsin with a period of time in Indiana where she met and married William Blacker, the father of her four adoring children. He preceded her in death in 1963. She later married Harold Rose and eventually moved back home to Wisconsin in the early 70's to be near her family. Delores attended school in Prairie du Sac while living in Badger. She always recalled those times very fondly. She worked many years for St. Clare Hospital in a variety of positions. She loved romance novels, rosemaling, dancing and old time polka music. She was extremely proud of her Norwegian heritage, having traveled there twice to visit family. If you asked her how she was doing she would almost always say "short, fat and sassy". She is survived by her 2 sons, Robert (Dawn) Blacker of Baraboo and Richard Blacker (Jodi Whitehead) of Lake Delton; grandchildren, Carrie Blacker of Vero Beach, FL, John and Janelle Blacker both of San Francisco, CA, Austin Blacker of Baraboo, Aaron Blacker (Nicole Smith) of Baraboo, Lorn Blacker (Nichole Coons) of Baraboo, and Mackenzie Cone of Baraboo; great-grandchildren Michael Gardner of Racine, Tristan Blacker, Ty Blacker, Anya Burress, Jace Blacker, Jackson Cone all of Baraboo. She is further survived by 2 sisters, Shirley (Laverne) Steinhorst of Baraboo, Beatrice Mancoske of Denmark; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; her 2 sons, Terry and William Blacker; sisters, Luella Gilbertson, Sylvia Gilbertson; and 3 brothers, Leo, Floyd, and Gene Olson.Memorial Services will be held at Noon, on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Baraboo with Pastor Marianne Cotter officiating. Visitation will be held from 11am until the time of service, at the church. Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
