Roberta E. Schubring, age 89, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014, peacefully at the Envoy Skilled Nursing Center in Woodbridge, Virginia, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Roberta, a longtime Baraboo resident had moved to Virginia last year to be with her son and daughter-in-law.Roberta was born on May 18, 1925 in Madison, Wisconsin to Robert Moulton Eighmy and Ella Amanda (Lee) Eighmy and was raised in McFarland, Wisconsin. She graduated from Madison's East High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison.She married Roy Fred Schubring from Baraboo, Wisconsin at St. John's Lutheran Church, on March 5, 1955. Roberta was a devoted homemaker for most of her life. She was an active and longtime volunteer at the Baraboo library and was an active volunteer in the church. She was an avid and friendly walker, cross-stitcher, and Teddy bear collector.She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy in 2008 after a lengthy battle with several health issues. Her sister, Kathryn Eighmy Cain, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Donald H. (Michelle) Schubring of Manassas, Virginia; her grandson, Josh (fiance Danielle Sturgis) Schubring; and her niece, Lynnda (Douglas) DeVries of Grand Haven, Michigan.Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, July 25, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor Carl Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30am until the time of service, at the church. Memorials may be made to the church. Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
